Commissioners approve Axon data-storage amendment, vehicle purchase and auction of obsolete sheriff vehicles

The Clark County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the Sheriff's Office contract with Axon Enterprises to provide unlimited data storage for body cameras, increasing the contract by $101,345.04. County Administrator Jennifer Hutchinson reported that Chief Deputy Mark Lane secured credits and a grant that will cover much of the storage cost for 2026 and 2027.
The Board also authorized the purchase of a 2019 Ford Explorer K9 patrol car for $1,153.12 from the GovDeals marketplace and approved disposal via online auction of two obsolete Ford Explorers (2016 and 2017 models). Commissioners noted that much of the financial case for the vehicle purchase rests on the value of the in-vehicle equipment that will be installed. The board additionally acknowledged the Sheriff's March 2026 Jail Expenditure Report and approved then-and-now warrants, including invoices to Motorola Solutions tied to Sheriff equipment purchases.
Commissioners voted unanimously on the Axon amendment, the vehicle purchase and the disposals. Hutchinson emphasized that the amendment updates the contract "for unlimited data storage for body cameras" and that available grant and credit funding reduced the county's immediate burden.
