Sheriff’s Office pursues JAG and state grants to cover Flock camera fees and Axon storage

The Board authorized two grant actions for the Sheriff’s Office on April 22. Commissioners approved submission for a Bureau of Justice Assistance FY25 Edward Byrne JAG grant for $71,487 to cover Flock camera fees; the award is to be split with the City of Springfield. The board also accepted a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety under the Axon Body-Worn Camera Initiative in the amount of $63,861.64 to help cover increased storage costs for body-worn camera data.
County Administrator Jennifer M. Hutchinson said the Axon grant will help pay for a storage increase that was previously added to the Axon contract. Sheriff Chris Clark presented the requests and commissioners voted to authorize the submissions and accept the funding as Resolutions 2026-0317 and 2026-0318, respectively. The grants carry stated effective dates in the record and will be executed by county administration upon acceptance.
