Street Supervisor Kyle Klopfenstein explained the city's typical snow-removal approach and asked the board to approve a contractor to provide hauling and loader services for major snow events. He said the city solicited 10 contractors, received four bids, and that RBM Hauling again submitted the apparent winning bid.
Klopfenstein said RBM "did have the winning bid again this year, at a $106 per truck and operator," and listed additional rates included in the attachment (for example, $360 per hour for two trucks with operators plus one end loader with operator and $150 per hour for a loader operator alone). A motion to approve RBM Hauling's bid was moved and seconded; the board approved the recommendation on a roll-call vote with all present voting Aye. The recommendation will go to city council for final authorization.
Klopfenstein noted contracted services are used primarily for the biggest snow events when the city cannot move all snow internally and aims to clear the square within about 12 hours.
