District outlines Burnham Early Childhood Center design and Lincoln fire remediation progress

Marc Rogers of CCS International presented a capital planning and construction update on Sept. 10 covering several district projects. He said the Design Development phase for the Burnham Early Childhood Center is complete and construction cost estimating is in progress; abatement and demolition at the Burnham site are substantially complete. Rogers also reported work on elevator modernizations (Liberty and Columbus West passed final inspection) and ongoing HVAC retro-commissioning at multiple schools.
Legat Architects showed a video of the planned Brian Dominick Early Childhood Center on the old Burnham site. Member Moreno asked about courtyard water flow during rainstorms and Marie Khone of Legat responded that "there will be adequate drainage systems installed." The board also heard that all first-floor classrooms at Lincoln School are nearing completion and should receive occupancy permits by next week, while the classroom identified as the origin of the fire remains outstanding for repairs.
