The Economic Development Committee voted to award Live Action Escapes $5,000 to support a permanent birthday‑party area and the build‑out of a third escape‑room game, the committee chair said after a discussion of the application.
Amanda Paquin, co‑owner of Live Action Escapes, told the committee the business has operated in Worcester for more than a decade and expanded into Westborough recently. "The grant helped us last time, with our initial build, and now we are just looking to further, the expansion of live action escapes," Paquin said during her presentation. Committee members questioned whether the request focused on durable build‑out items rather than operating expenses; Paquin clarified the money would go toward physical fixtures and the game construction.
Committee members reviewed the scoring rubric and fiscal allocation and moved to approve a $5,000 award specifically for construction materials and gameplay expansion, with the usual town condition that receipts for eligible purchases be submitted before reimbursement. The motion was seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote recorded by the chair. The committee chair said staff will coordinate the reimbursement process and follow up with the applicant.
