Elementary teachers recommend The Great Body Shop for K–5 health curriculum; middle school search continues

After piloting The Great Body Shop and Quaver Health for K–8, Oak Grove staff reported elementary teachers recommend The Great Body Shop for grades K–5, while middle school teachers want more appropriate options for grades 6–8.
District Director of Teaching & Learning Alexa Dunn reported that health curriculum standards are governed by national guidelines and state mandates and presented results from K–8 pilots.
"The Elementary teachers recommend adopting The Great Body Shop for grades K-5," Dunn said, adding that Quaver Health was also piloted for K–8 and that middle school teachers would like to continue looking for a curriculum more appropriate for grades 6–8.
The Committee heard that the district will proceed with elementary-level adoption recommendations for The Great Body Shop and continue pilot work or searching for a middle school option before making a recommendation for grades 6–8.
