Oak Grove SD 68 recommends SAAVAS Envision for middle school math

District staff and the middle school math team recommended adopting SAAVAS Envision for grades 6–8 after piloting it alongside Big Ideas; stakeholders may preview both curricula in the Teaching & Learning office from May 22–June 2.
Alexa Dunn and members of the Oak Grove School District 68 middle school math team recommended the district move forward with adopting SAAVAS Envision as the middle school math curriculum.
"It is the recommendation that the district move forward with adopting SAAVAS Envision as the middle school math curriculum," Dunn told the Committee of the Whole, noting the last math adoption occurred in 2013 and that teachers evaluated both Big Ideas and SAAVAS during the pilot.
The math team (Lisa Macauley, Lynn Klunder, Meg Oesch and Bronwen Mosquera) discussed positives and negatives of each option and will make materials available for stakeholder preview in Dunn’s office from May 22 to June 2 by appointment. The recommendation will be presented to the full Board as a next step for formal adoption.
