Ron Hedgecoke addressed the Dec. 22 work session to request that the Commission amend the coroner's budget by $2,000 to retain an additional deputy coroner and maintain 24-hour coverage.
Hedgecoke said deputy coroners are paid $25 per pay period and must attend annual training; he told commissioners, "having three coroners we will be able to have 24hr coverage, a deputy coroner only gets paid $25.00 a pay period." County Manager Thomas Weaver said he had recently approved reimbursement expense reports amounting to $2,000 for personnel expenses and that the request would be reviewed. Commissioners did not make an immediate decision and took the request under advisement for consideration at a future meeting.
