City announces East Bayfront Greenway Phase 1 ribbon cutting Aug. 5

City staff announced a ribbon cutting for the East Bayfront Greenway Trail Phase 1 park on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 5 p.m., and invited Historic Review Commission members to attend. Aaron Snippert described the project as the result of more than four years of work, from neighborhood design charettes to construction, and said the transfer of lots from the Redevelopment Authority to the city and a maintenance agreement will be on council's agenda.
Snippert also reported ongoing planning for infill housing on Redevelopment Authority and land bank lots and updates to housing rehabilitation programs that serve income-qualified residents and older adults with deferred-maintenance needs. "We are working on a plan on infill housing development on redevelopment authority and land bank lots," Snippert said, and encouraged commissioners to attend the ribbon cutting at the East Bayfront location between E. 6th and E. 7th.
The city framed the greenway as part of a broader revitalization strategy intended to turn underutilized parcels into public assets and attract additional private investment as future phases proceed.
