Cleveland police told the City of Cleveland Beer Board that officers observed alcoholic beverages on tables at Goodies Smoke Shop during a follow-up bar check on March 1, 2026 and that occupants were leaving as officers arrived. Officer Hollifield's report states the first check around 00:18 found nothing of concern, but a later check at about 03:30 found more vehicles and patrons leaving; officers noted multiple alcoholic beverages out on tables.
Sgt. Formont spoke with owner Adetowo Oni, who characterized the event as "a private birthday party" and said he does not normally sell alcohol after 3 a.m. Officers reported seeing several people leaving with cases of alcoholic beverages, which the report said contradicted the owner's statements. The police report records that photos and body-camera footage were attached to the file; Officer Hollifield wrote, "My body camera was active." The Board reviewed the evidence before voting to suspend the shop's beer permit for 14 days.
