Will County School District 92 board approves policy revisions, advances FY26 budget preparations

The Board of Education of Will County School District 92 met on Jan. 21, 2025, in the Ludwig Band Room. President Matt Dusterhoft called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; four members were present (Gorecki, Tidwell, Dopke, Dusterhoft) and three members were absent (Washington, Ferkaluk, Przybyl). The board voted 4–0 to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes, financial reports, personnel items and the preparation of the Tentative Budget FY26.
At the Board Action portion of the meeting the board approved a slate of policy revisions on second reading. Policies approved included 2:105 Ethics and Gift Ban; 2:110 Qualifications, Terms, and Duties of Board Officers; 2:120 Board Member Development; 4:30 Revenue and Investments; 4:150 Facility Management and Buildings Programs; 4:170 Safety; 5:10 Equal Employment Opportunity and Minority Recruitment; 5:20 Workplace Harassment; and 5:90 Abused and Neglected Child Reporting. The second-reading motion was made by member Tidwell and seconded by member Dopke; the vote was recorded Aye—Tidwell, Dopke, Gorecki, and Dusterhoft, with no Nays recorded.
Superintendent Kirsten Frankovich told the board the district is developing the 2025–26 school calendar and preparing for a strategic planning process. Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Dave Blatchley reported that year-end processes such as W-2 distribution and ACA paperwork are underway and that work on next year’s budget has begun; the district’s financial dashboard is available on the district website. Director of Student Services Nora Skentzos noted a proposal to rename the preschool 'Tiny Bulldog Academy' and presented a first read of a Special Services Coordinator job description to support growing needs in the department.
The meeting included recognitions and celebrations: Principal Breanna Golden introduced the Reed School Math Club, which will participate in three statewide competitions and finished 6th in its first contest, and Superintendent Frankovich recognized nine staff members nominated by peers for outstanding service. Principal Jeff Kulik was announced as the Illinois Principals’ Association Three Rivers Region Elementary Principal of the Year and will enter the pool for state-level consideration. The board adjourned at 7:48 p.m.; the adjournment motion was made by member Dopke and seconded by member Tidwell, and recorded as Ayes 4, Nays 0, Absent 3.
