On July 28 the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved First Consideration of Ordinance No. 2026-04, titled "An Ordinance Providing for the Division of Taxes Levied on Taxable Property in the Legacy Ridge Subdivision Urban Renewal Area… Pursuant to Section 403.19 of the Code of Iowa." The motion by Keith Jones, seconded by Jeff Jorgensen, set the date for second consideration on August 4, 2026 and established the required publication schedule.
The ordinance text reviewed by the board includes statutory definitions, a legal parcel description of the Urban Renewal Area (approximately 131.676 acres), procedural language on how base and incremental tax amounts are allocated, and exceptions for certain school-levy and bond collections. The board recorded the schedule of First Consideration (July 28), Second Consideration (August 4), Publication (August 13) and Record (August 14).
