The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors on July 28 approved Resolution No. 49-2026 to amend the Urban Renewal Plan for the Heartland Ridge Subdivision Urban Renewal Area, renaming it the Legacy Ridge Subdivision Urban Renewal Area and updating the description of the JJHP, LLC housing development agreement project. The board held a public hearing in which resident Shawna Caigoy spoke in support before closing the hearing and voting unanimously to approve the amendment.
The resolution states that "copies of the Amendment, notice of public hearing and notice of a consultation meeting with respect to the Amendment were mailed to Lewis Central Community School District" and that "it is not anticipated that any families will be displaced in connection with the County’s undertakings under the Amendment." The board recorded a roll-call vote with supervisors Shea, Wichman, Miller, Jorgensen and Jones voting aye. The amendment updates plan language and affirms statutory consultation and relocation commitments should displacement become necessary.
