Council hears water, DPW and cyber insurance updates; water main break noted

Several council members provided departmental updates during the liaison-report portion of the Dec. 8 meeting. Councilman Ciasullo raised the need to replace chlorine pumps and noted he normally handles replacements but may engage a company this cycle. Councilman Gandarinho reported a recent water main break in front of 19 Jefferson and later relayed an email from Rob Lawler about cyber insurance and establishing a .gov account, which the council said needs to be completed by Dec. 31.
Councilman DeMeo reported a fuel leak and transmission-pan leak on fire engine #4 and said funds remain available to cover repairs. Councilwoman Lame reported the emergency-notification contact list had fallen from 245 to 190 active contacts and explained accounts are closed if not active; the council discussed contracting for notification services and planned a resolution on contract approval in January.
