Mark Lazard, representing VFW Post 2948, asked the council to support a dedication ceremony to rename Holler Field the Senior Chief Petty Officer Thomas J. Valentine Field; the family requested a Friday, Aug. 28 ceremony at 11 a.m. The mayor agreed to attend and staff were asked to coordinate logistics with public works and administration.
The council also heard from Jackie Nagle about the Kuchiching Technology Initiative (KTI) and agreed to appoint a city representative so the city's interests are represented; discussion referenced assigning the city's IT contractor or staff as the representative. Jackie Nagle, speaking later as a Rotary Club president, asked permission to serve beer at the GNU Collective concert at the Urbanderson Amphitheater; administration expedited permitting and the council approved the request unanimously.
