The Hartland Township Board approved up to $30,000 to buy and install a set of used workstations to replace staff cubicles in the public work areas of Township Hall, and authorized the township manager to act on project decisions.
Township manager Mike and Assessor Amanda Kerrigan inspected a lot of pre‑owned workstations and recommended purchasing 16 stations offered by a vendor. Mike said the quoted cost for 16 workstations with delivery was $6,220; staff estimated removal and installation labor would require a contingency (he targeted about $8,000), and they budgeted $3,000 for IT support on installation. Mike told the board the vendor is a reuse-focused company that typically donates or resells retired cubicles rather than sending them to landfill. "They're top tier workstations that have a lot of functionality for staff," he said.
Staff explained the purchase is part of the capital improvement plan, which included funds for workstations and lighting upgrades; the board approved the purchase and asked staff to maximize reuse of existing materials when feasible.
