Hartland board approves pavement work to finish Blaine Road after county culvert schedule change

The Hartland Township Board voted to approve the remaining work on the 2026 Blaine Road pavement project and authorized the public works director to act on behalf of the township for project decisions for costs not to exceed $50,000.
Public works director Scott told the board the township paved most of Blaine Road last construction season but postponed the southern end after learning the Livingston County Drain Commission planned a culvert replacement there. "We did not budget for this this year. This we had pushed this to '28 because we didn't know that it was gonna happen," Scott said, adding that the county-delivered culvert is on site and the road will be closed for "a couple 3 weeks" while the county installs it. The board approved the contract by voice vote.
The authorization allows the public works director to coordinate timing so the township paving can flow with the county’s culvert work where feasible. Scott said the township does not yet have a precise timeline for the paving segment but moved to bring the contract forward so the work can proceed when the culvert project is complete.
