PDC staff presented a request received March 24, 2025 on behalf of Nathan Vu seeking redaction of contributor-identifying information tied to a contribution to Amy Nguyen’s 2019 campaign. Staff said they obtained authorization from Mr. Vu and confirmation from the Nguyen campaign that records could be redacted.
Townsend told the Commission the C-3 disclosure, filed under RCW 42.17A.240, included residential address information and that the request would be evaluated under RCW 42.17A.120 and WAC 390-28-080 on the basis that disclosure would present a personal risk to a reasonable person. Chair Jay Leach addressed correspondence from Iron Wall, stressed that Washington law controls PDC decisions, and after discussion found the redaction request reasonable and ordered the contributor contact information removed from the public-facing record so that only the contribution amount remains visible.
