Clinton County staff outlines plan for joint drainage board with Boone County

Staff updated the board on plans to form a joint drainage board with Boone County to address the Charles McClamrock and Sims Rogers watersheds.
"That's joint drainage boards with Boone County. We're working on, getting together a board with them," the staff member said, and explained the intended composition: two members from each county plus a fifth member who does not live in either county. Staff said an initial meeting had been targeted for Sept. 1 to organize the board and select the fifth member, but scheduling conflicts — including a Boone County member’s unavailability and harvest-season commitments for farmer-members — mean dates are being negotiated.
Staff also said they will ask engineers to develop a higher-level catchment map to determine water flow in the Town of Kirkland and to identify which areas should be carved out or assigned to separate drains. The board acknowledged the complexity and agreed staff will continue coordinating with the Boone County surveyor and report proposed meeting dates.
