Interim Superintendent Dennis Ulmer told the board the district must observe state law requiring school closure on November 3 in even‑numbered years and proposed swapping a PD/work day to absorb the mandated closure without losing instructional days. "It is an even year because it's an even year. We have to take November 3 off," Ulmer said, and presented a plan that shifts a PD day from the 7th to the 8th and leaves one inclement‑weather day on the calendar.
A board member supported the change and asked administration to consider whether the district should revisit the practice of taking a full week off in November in future calendar planning. The board moved to approve the calendar revision to comply with state law and approved it by voice vote; the chair asked the administration to notify parents about the change.
