Federal programs director reports preliminary Title I allocation of $1,223,569.94; other grants pending

Dr. Ron Ray delivered the district’s federal programs update and provided preliminary allocations for the coming year. "For Title I, this year, the preliminary allocation for our district is $1,223,569.94," he said, and noted that all district schools qualify as Title I and the funds support school supplies, parent and family engagement, on‑site counseling, a district social worker and differentiated instructional platforms.

Ray said the district submitted Title I and Title II plans to the state but had not yet received approvals; timelines vary year to year. He gave the Title II preliminary figure as "$105,396.46," which the district is prioritizing for teacher professional development and mileage reimbursement connected to alternative certification efforts. For Title IV he noted a planned allocation of "$95,365.58" to support classroom kits, arts supplies, wellness and safety modules and staff conference attendance. Ray also said the district was still awaiting Title III and Title V notifications and that Perkins and state CTE equipment funds for high‑school programs are pending.

Board members pressed for specifics on content and local use. A board member asked whether the Title IV virtual safety and wellness modules include vaping education; Ray confirmed, "There is a training that we can push out to students on vaping." He also estimated the district had about 46 multilingual (ML) students and said he would provide an updated count. Ray reported that Denmark Middle School received additional Comprehensive Support and Improvement allocation and that a meeting with principals and two state department representatives was scheduled to discuss those funds.
