Superintendent Matt Rich briefed the board on legislative and budget developments at the federal and state levels, saying early returns suggest the district may lose about $38,000 in Medicaid funding and approximately $50,000 in school‑lunch funding pending final federal and state budgets. He said about 90 students qualify for SNAP and/or Medicaid and that families could see reductions depending on final budget outcomes.
Rich said the district's LEND group will meet via Zoom with a lobbyist from the American Association of School Administrators and that he will join a Zoom with Congressman Ramirez to provide stakeholder input. He also noted Governor Pritzker's budget proposals in Springfield include freezes to categorical grants, which could lead to proration of transportation and special‑education funding.
