NDOT outlines bridge, mill‑and‑fill and maintenance projects; introduces rural community specialist

Darren Dyke, assistant district engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation, briefed the Elko County RTC on multiple current and planned projects across the county, and introduced Patty Antonucci, NDOT’s new rural community specialist.
Dyke said the Spring Creek roundabout (contract 4524) is complete and open, described bridge replacements under contract 4544 near Halleck, and said a US‑93 resurfacing mill‑and‑fill contract (45.58) just went to bid with approximately 120 working days and an anticipated notice to proceed in June. He also listed planned chip seals and maintenance betterments on state routes in the area and a frontage‑road bridge demolition between Wells and Wendover scheduled for this fall.
Patty Antonucci said she started with NDOT last month and will act as a liaison to county officials, commissioners and city staff to gather local concerns and bring them to the director’s office. “My role is to serve as a liaison to government officials, commissioners, legislators, and city officials to find out what your NDOT issues are,” she said, and said county workshops are being scheduled and she will share a calendar of visits.
Commissioners thanked NDOT for the Spring Creek roundabout completion and sought follow‑up on a proposed bus‑stop relocation tied to a school‑district‑led property acquisition. Dyke said that proposed bus‑stop move had been the school district’s initiative and would require property acquisition plus NDOT coordination.
NDOT’s list of maintenance and preventive work gives local jurisdictions and contractors a planning horizon for bidding and traffic staging this summer and fall.
