Fourth-graders present after author visit; students give signed copies to board

Lindop librarian Colleen Layton reported that on Oct. 21, 2024 local author Malcolm Newsome read his book Sydney's Big Speech to kindergarten through fifth-grade students and conducted Q&A sessions by grade. Colleen Layton said fourth-grade students presented what the book meant to them and that each student and staff member received a signed copy; the students then provided a signed copy to each board member to keep.
The board received the student presentations and accepted the copies. The minutes record the event as part of the "Spotlight on Success" portion of the agenda and list the activity as a community-literacy engagement but do not record additional program funding or follow-up steps.
