Josh Gown, marketing communications director at the Redwood, told council the chamber received a state site-development grant to expand the regional business park and to support workforce development. "In conjunction with the Roanoke County industrial development board, we have received $4,040,000 from the Tennessee department of community development site development grant," he said.
Gown said the funds will help purchase about 120 acres off Buttermilk Road to add to the Roan Regional Business and Technology Park and that the chamber and partner staff are producing instructional videos to show trade and college pathways, including for the nuclear field. He framed the investments as steps to improve local business growth and student career pathways and said production and rollout of the videos will begin in the coming year.
