The board voted to approve two proposed CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathways submitted by Insight School of Washington: Clinical Photography and Medical Photography. Staff explained these pathways require ZIP-code classification (classification of instructional programs) and that local use requires final approval from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). A motion to approve each pathway passed by voice vote.
Board members asked whether students can access these courses locally; staff said students can access them if enrolled in Insight or if the district has a teacher with the required certification who teaches the registered pathway. Myron noted the pathway approval is the first step and OSPI must grant final approval for the courses to count toward district graduation pathways.
