Miss Morstead reviewed the commission's preliminary budget adjustments and recommended several changes ahead of final adoption. "I am going to reduce the base retention by 5,000, include a 3% cola across the board, and then, keep the airport, reduce them to 100,000," she said, noting the net levy figure would place the county "right at the cap."
Commissioners questioned scheduling for additional meetings to finalize figures and asked staff to prepare details. After discussion the board voted to approve the preliminary package by voice vote; commissioners emphasized this was a working proposal and that they expect at least one more meeting to finalize any further cuts prior to the statutory deadline.
