"I said, hey. We would like to have or, you know, anytime you make a grant award in Elko County, I'd like to know who the award is to, how much it is, and what basic scope of what they're gonna provide," Delmo said, adding concern that without that information local capacity could be wasted on competing applications and that the program's $180,000,000 allocation across rural counties makes coordination critical.
Chair (speaker 1) and other board members agreed the state program must better coordinate with local stakeholders so county leaders can identify gaps and avoid duplication. Board members emphasized rural capacity constraints — long travel distances and smaller local staffs — and asked staff to pursue ways to receive earlier notice of awards and scopes so the board can help identify gaps and offer targeted local support.
