The Statesboro City mayor and council approved a one-year contract with Travelers to provide property and casualty insurance, with coverage set to commence Aug. 14, 2026.
Staff told the council that the city cannot operate without liability insurance and that property and casualty premiums increased by 'a couple [of] $100,000' compared with the prior year, while workers' compensation costs saw a modest decrease. Staff recommended approval and the council voted in favor of the contract.
