Union County commissioners highlight summer events, arts grants and services

Multiple commissioners used the meeting to promote upcoming county programs and community events. Commissioner Dellsfort announced registration for the sensory-friendly summer camp at Trailside Nature and Science Center (Aug. 17–21) for teens and young adults with documented disabilities and emphasized the application/interview process and limited space. Commissioner Baker highlighted the Family Fun & Flick series in August and the county announced the 2027 local arts program grant application opening (maximum operating support grants $15,000; special project grants up to $4,500 with matching funds required, application deadline 09/30/2026). For grant questions, the meeting named Martha Sturm as the local arts program grant coordinator.
