County Administrator Jason Booth told commissioners an architect had inspected the existing water/wastewater office and found it feasible to convert the building to meet coroner needs without major structural work. Booth said the building sits on a slab and contains a bathroom; interior walls could be removed, a double garage door installed and refrigeration and a generator added to support the coroner's operations.
"She said they're about 10 by 10 by 7," Booth said of the cooler/freezer units discussed for the space when describing the coroner's equipment needs. Booth said he will arrange an on-site meeting with the coroner, Dr. Ogle, so she can confirm requirements before engaging the architect to prepare plans; he told the board the conversion would likely cost less than previously expected because of the building's straightforward layout.
Booth did not provide a firm cost estimate or schedule at the meeting; he said staff will take next steps once Dr. Ogle confirms equipment and layout needs.
