Elizabeth resident urges county help on Pearl Street pedestrian safety near courthouse

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Patrick Jones of 33 Cherry Street, Elizabeth, asked county officials about pedestrian-safety work and new parking meters, expressing concern that hours of operation were not clearly posted and that drivers were becoming complacent at crosswalks near the new courthouse.
"Because the the thing is that, I wanted to know because I've been driving a truck for, like, 40 years... So I was just wondering if, you know, I mean, if you're gonna have a panel or something like that because it is very abusive out there," Jones said, asking whether the county or municipalities were coordinating on crosswalk safety and offering to participate in any panel.
The county manager asked Jones to provide his contact information to the clerk after the meeting so staff could follow up. The manager also indicated staff would address the specific resolutions referenced by other public speakers and that Director Burke would explain the Rahway dispatch terms.
