County manager: Rahway shared-services dispatch contract is five years, capped at $3.6 million

The county manager called on Director Burke to explain Resolution 501, a shared-services agreement with Rahway to provide full fire, EMS and police dispatching services. Director Burke told the board the contract term is five years and the total cost over the term is capped at $3,600,000.
"It is a 5 year contract... not to exceed 3,600,000 over the cost of the term for full suite services, fire, EMS, and police dispatching services," Director Burke said on the record. The manager said more details could be shared with interested residents and that staff would follow up with the public commenter who raised pedestrian-safety concerns.
Resolution 501 was included in the group of resolutions moved and seconded for adoption; the clerk recorded the roll call as part of the batch and noted several abstentions on a subset of items. The meeting record did not provide a line-item vote for Resolution 501 alone but the manager and director described the substance of the agreement during the public-comment response.
