Ashley Stevens, a West Town resident, told the council that boarded houses at 1401 and 1405 West Main continue to draw trespassers and temporary camps, and that repeated property‑maintenance cases have been dismissed in court. Stevens said neighbors have reported people camping near the properties and that calls to police have not resolved the problem.
The mayor and city staff acknowledged the complaints, asked Stevens to speak with the police chief after the meeting, and said staff are aware and working the issue. Stevens urged faster enforcement and clearer responses when she calls the non‑emergency line. The council did not take immediate action during the meeting but confirmed staff follow‑up would occur.
