County Administrator Darren Myers described the county's midyear cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) policy and recommended implementing a 2.8% adjustment based on a three-year average of Social Security COLA values. He told the commission budgeted funds in the budget stabilization fund could cover the minimal impact this year because several positions had been vacant or were partially funded.
Commissioners moved and seconded a resolution to implement the 2.8% midyear COLA for all county employees, contract positions and elected officials, effective with the 14th pay period (July 5, 2026). County staff said roughly $220,000 was budgeted in stabilization funds, of which only a portion would be needed to cover the midyear change.
