Council awards $316,000 library improvements contract to High-tech Construction

The Brainerd City Council voted Aug. 3 to award the contract for the Brainerd Public Library community access improvement and storage upgrade to High-tech Construction of Brainerd, for a bid of $316,000. Safety & Public Works Committee Chair Tad Erickson told council the project will be funded from a Minnesota Department of Education grant received in August 2025 for just over $400,000, and staff received three bids with High-tech the low bidder.
"The motion coming out of committee is to, direct staff, to move forward with the 2026 Brainerd Public Library community access improvement and storage upgrade project, awarding the bid to High-tech Construction of Brainerd and the total bid amount of 316,000," Erickson said. Council members noted prior library work came in under budget (budget amount referenced at $426,000 for a prior project) and approved the contract by voice vote.
