Commission approves Riverbend fishing dock bid; construction awaits Corps approval and dredging plan

The Commission approved the sole bid for the Riverbend Fishing Dock Project from Wahoo Dock at its Oct. 7 meeting.
Mordie Askew (parks/rec contact noted at the Oct. 27 work session) told the board that construction cannot begin until the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approves the project; once approval is secured, the contractor that will build the dock will also perform dredging work. "Still waiting on approval from Corp of engineers to begin the actual fishing dock," Askew reported during the Oct. 27 work session.
The Commission's approval covers award of the bid; the timeline for Corps permitting and dredging was described as pending. Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the bid and directed staff to continue coordination with permitting authorities.
