Cusseta-Chattahoochee County approves multiple road and infrastructure bids; Friendship Road resurfacing set for Dec. 1

The Commission approved a slate of infrastructure actions at its Oct. 7 meeting, directing staff to advertise paving bids and approving construction contracts for several county projects.
Commissioners voted unanimously to put Riverbend Road and Liberty Hill Road out to bid. County Manager Thomas Weaver told the board that resurfacing for Friendship Road is scheduled to start Dec. 1; he said a preconstruction meeting was held Oct. 1 and the cost estimate for Friendship Road resurfacing is $106,000. Weaver also said crews will repair rough spots on Manta Road before resurfacing.
The meeting included awards for immediate construction work: the storage building slab at 215 McNaughton was awarded to Chattahoochee Concrete with the building to be provided by North Carolina Carports; Chattahoochee Concrete was also awarded the lower bid for City Hall Welcome Center work; and the dog pound expansion was awarded to Rock Solid Construction (concrete), United Fencing (fencing), and McGuire Buildings (structure). All votes on these items were unanimous.
Chairman Charles Coffey and Manager Weaver emphasized scheduling and budget: Weaver noted the Friendship Road start date and the $106,000 estimate; Coffey noted coordination with SPLOST funds for other capital projects. The Commission recorded no dissent on the procurement choices.
