Commission approves Board of Health appointment, New Horizons reappointment and grant applications

At the Aug. 5 meeting the commission unanimously appointed Alison Wigand to the Chattahoochee County Board of Health for a term through Dec. 31, 2027. The formal resolution states the commission is authorized by state statute to make the appointment and recorded a unanimous vote in favor.
The board also unanimously approved the reappointment of April Hughes to the New Horizons Behavioral Health community service board for a three‑year term beginning Dec. 1, 2025 and expiring Nov. 30, 2028. Commissioners also approved the annual 4‑H financial agreement renewal and authorized submission of a SEID/Trail grant application to pursue funding for a proposed trail project.
Commissioners thanked volunteers and agency representatives for stepping up; the minutes record that the county has needed a certified nurse on the Board of Health and expressed appreciation for Alison Wigand's willingness to serve.
