Commission declares 2008 Massey Ferguson surplus; approves $10,000 trade toward new tractor

At the June 3 regular meeting the Commission amended its agenda to declare a 2008 Massey Ferguson tractor surplus and to authorize trading it to Carlson Brothers Tractor toward the purchase price of a New Holland tractor for $10,000. Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved to amend the agenda; Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded the motion and the vote to amend was unanimous. A subsequent motion to approve the surplus/trade was made by Commissioner Jason Frost and seconded by Commissioner Douglas; that vote also was unanimous.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said the offer from Carlson Brothers for the Massey Ferguson was $10,000 and the county intends to apply that amount toward the New Holland purchase. The minutes record the agreement as a standard surplus-and-trade arrangement approved by the board.
