County OKs Georgia Forestry fire-tower agreement; county cost capped at $4,738.58

The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County approved a fire-tower services agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission on June 3, 2025, authorizing the county to enter the contract and directing the chairman to execute it. The agreement sets the contract term from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and permits either party to terminate with 30 days' written notice.
The agreement text states, "The UGOCCC's payment per contract period shall not exceed Four Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty Eight Dollars and Fifty Eight Cents ($4,738.58)." The contract also describes Forestry's obligation to supply a fire-tower operator (a temporary day-laborer or, if unavailable, other full-time Forestry staff) and to submit documentation of the assistance provided to the county at intervals requested.
Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. County Manager Thomas Weaver and Forestry representative Chris Dunn (introduced at the June 23 work session) were noted as contacts for implementation and the annual report from Forestry is expected to follow.
