Parkland board adopts resolution opposing Nexus 78, authorizes solicitor to intervene

The Parkland School District board on a 9to0 vote adopted a resolution opposing the proposed Nexus 78 warehouse and authorized its solicitors to take legal action, including filing or continuing a petition to intervene in the appeal before the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County. President of the board moved the resolution and Leslie Frisbie seconded; the motion carried with all members voting yes.

Board members emphasized safety near Orfield Middle School, the district's transportation facility and Parkland High School's stadium as the main rationale for opposing the project. "The board does not support the project, which was denied by North Whitehall Township and currently on appeal before the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County," the president read as part of the resolution text. Several members thanked the district's solicitor and administration for prior participation at township hearings and for preparing the legal filing.

The resolution explicitly authorizes the district solicitors to "take action in the legal matters involved, including, but not limited to, filing a petition to intervene in the land development appeal matters before the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County."
