Rangely approves grant applications and boosts RESTORE grant for boat ramp signage

The Town of Rangely approved a set of grants to fund signage and visitor information at the Rangely boat ramp. Council authorized staff to apply for up to $80,000 from Colorado Parks and Wildlife for traffic control, logistics and identification signage, and separately amended a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation RESTORE grant allocation from not to exceed $100,000 to $123,000.
Town Manager Lisa outlined the project components, saying the CPW grant would cover directional and traffic signage to keep the boat-ramp loop flowing and avoid vehicles driving the wrong way; staff also discussed two kiosks—"one that's, like, 6 sided, the larger one, and then the other one might be"—that may be funded through a RESTORE award if both grants are secured. Council members reviewed a tentative map showing kiosk locations and discussed final design input from local designer Larry Lucas.
The council moved and approved the CPW grant application (up to $80,000) and later unanimously approved increasing the RESTORE grant allocation to $123,000. Staff said securing both grants would allow more elaborate informational signage consistent with the site design shown in the board packet.
Next steps: staff will submit the CPW application and finalize the RESTORE grant amendment paperwork and follow up with design details and kiosk siting.
