Neighbors urge delay and more notice as commissioners consider Lam Research expansion

Residents who live near Lam Research's Tualatin campus testified during the county's Aug. 4 public hearing that they had insufficient notice and asked the board to delay action so neighbors could review materials and prepare testimony.
"My ask is do not vote this through today simply because the public has not had adequate opportunity to read and understand and testify on all of this application," said Brett Hamilton, a Tualatin resident who represents a neighborhood group organized to address development impacts.
Other speakers raised related concerns about construction already underway, air and noise impacts from on-site equipment, and the pace of public-notice practices. Charlie Henderson, who identified himself as a resident, said he was surprised by the lack of visible opposition at the hearing and asked whether the county had adequately informed neighbors.
Commissioners acknowledged the concerns and several urged the company to engage directly with nearby residents to mitigate local impacts. After deliberation, the board voted 5–0 to approve the SIP agreement; commissioners and staff said they will track workforce and supplier commitments and encouraged Lam to pursue neighbor mitigation measures.
