"This is a project that was funded, by a Minnesota Department of Education grant for a total amount of $422,238," Paul Sandy said, and reported the apparent low bidder as High-tech Construction of Brainerd with a bid of $316,000; he also said Widseth's professional services are estimated at $51,000 (grant-eligible) and that owner-provided items are currently estimated at $46,798, leaving a total project estimate around $367,000, which is under the grant award.
Committee member Jeff asked whether the Gordian procurement process used on a prior library project was applied to this work; Paul Sandy explained that federal procurement requirements differ from state or local processes and that the Gordian process is typically applied to locally funded projects. Jeff moved to approve the recommended contract award to High-tech Construction of Brainerd at the recommended amount; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
