Several community members urged the Parkland School District to join or intervene in a court appeal of a North Whitehall Township denial for a proposed Trammell Crow/Nexus 78 truck-terminal warehouse on Orfield Road.
Kelly Sullivan told the board the township initially denied the plan after district and resident advocacy, but the developer has appealed to the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas. Sullivan said the project would place high-volume truck traffic on a road that cannot safely accommodate school buses and parents, and asked the district to intervene to protect students and staff. “Because of this appeal, we are now all at risk of this trucking terminal warehouse being allowed,” she said.
Margaret Kane Forgash, a resident and township supervisor candidate, echoed the request and said the district’s participation is necessary to ensure transportation and safety concerns are raised in court. The board president and administration said staff and legal counsel are reviewing options and that individual board members have previously advocated at township hearings; the superintendent said the district is evaluating what legal steps, if any, it may take.
No board motion to intervene was recorded at the meeting; the district said it would continue an administrative and legal review.
