Harbormaster Bill Chase recounted a July 4 rescue in which harbor staff and others revived an unresponsive child and said the child’s family later returned with a $1,000 donation and a note of thanks. Chase proposed using the funds to buy a pedestal device that would house an automated external defibrillator (AED) accessible after calling 911.
"A few days later, that individual walked into the harbormaster shack with his whole family... they left this note for us with a check for 1000 dollars," Chase said, and described a pedestal that would release the AED code after a 911 call. The board voted to accept the donation and directed the money to marine services for discretionary use.
