During the July 7 meeting the Financial Rules Committee recommended and the board voted to audit and allow claims totaling $3,344,852.22. The board passed a series of resolutions authorizing grants, appropriations, appointments and purchases.
Notable actions included acceptance of fiscal year 2025 EMPG and SHSP grants; authorization of an agreement with Jefferson Community College for design and administration of a Tri‑County Mental Hygiene survey; an appropriations resolution for the highway department; appointments to the Lewis County Fair Housing Task Force; and purchases and grant‑funded equipment (a six‑foot pull‑behind snow groomer, a Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000, and a 24‑foot enclosed trailer). The board also approved a late resolution awarding a contract to L & S Excavating for demolition and site cleanup of a condemned property in the Town of Martinsburg.
County Treasurer Newton reported the contingency fund balance at $142,001.50 at the end of July and warned that if the agenda resolutions were adopted, the contingency fund would be reduced to zero. Several legislators noted recusals where appropriate in connection with vouchers and panel administrator payments.
