Local historian asks Hillsborough schools for records on Marshall Middle Magnet naming

At public comment, Ashley Morrow told the board she’d researched the early history of Marshall Middle Magnet and asked the district for access to archival minutes or help from a district historian.
Morrow said the school originated in 1920 and later served as Plant City Junior/Senior High School before being called Marshall High School for Negroes prior to desegregation. She shared plat maps and deeds she had located and requested assistance locating the official record of the naming decision in the 1950s. "I did a little digging because that's what I do, and I love archives," she said, offering to share documents with staff and asking whether the district had an archivist or old minutes to consult.
Chair Perez thanked Morrow for the materials; the board did not take formal action but staff acknowledged the request and indicated they would follow up on available minutes and archival records.
