BIA to seek special permit for proposed Allentown library at 703 Orange/89 Newburgh

The BIA is preparing to ask the Planning & Zoning Commission for a special permit and site‑plan approval to place a library on parcels at 703 Orange Avenue and 89 Newburgh Street, counsel Stephanie Cummings told the West Haven Opera Committee on Aug. 4.
Cummings said the parcel combination is necessary to provide parking and that Codescotti and Associates prepared the required site drawings. "We're going before the Planning and Zoning Commission next week," she said, noting the submission was made on July 8 under the LOI and a purchase and sale agreement followed on July 17. Committee members raised questions about ingress/egress, setbacks and whether the design met zoning requirements; Cummings said the proposed primary entrance would be on Orange Avenue, with ancillary access to Newburgh and Fairfax.
